The Story of the Tin Can
is the culminating project of my two-year residency with the Chicago Public Libraries (2020- 2021).

The resulting artwork replaces existing library furniture with a series of workbenches designed and prototyped in the library’s makerspaces. The benches display a rotating selection of contemplative objects that highlight and respond to the holdings of the library’s special collections.

More.

A BOOK THAT IS ALSO A BOOKEND consists of a sculptural workbench and a series of storage racks that support objects that are tools for thinking, making, and thinking through the act of making. The audience is invited to use the space as they wish, running any question through the system and exploring the condition of searching and perpetual inquiry.
