‘Sketches for Sea Pianos’ are speculative designs for a musical instruments played by the sea. Each instrument is a no-man’s band - striking notes in accordance with the indeterminate rhythms of the ocean and playing into the sea air. The instruments exist as three dimensional prototypes and as ‘kinetic diagrams’ made from paper or aluminum. The diagrams exist between the second, third, and fourth dimension - in the space where ideas are wrestled into reality.
